Curbside Waste Management Program
The Curbside Waste Management Program
for residents in the Town of Petawawa, the City of Pembroke
and the Township of Laurentian Valley includes the following:
Paper Recycling - Blue Box
Container Recycling - Triple R Can
Organics Program - Green Cart
Collection Schedules are available
at your Municipal Office, online, or
by contacting 613-735-7537. Your Collection
Schedule will note your collection day, items to
be collected, Hazardous or Special Waste
Days, Bulky Item Collection (furniture,
appliances, scrap metal), Leaf & Yard Waste Pick-Ups
and Christmas Tree Disposal.
Recyclables should be placed loose
in the Blue Box, Triple R Can or other reusable containers.
All material must be set out for collection by 5:00
am. Material must be placed 5 feet from the curb, in
your driveway. Containers cannot exceed 23 kg (50lbs).
Hazardous or Special Waste is not collected at curbside. HSW consists of paints, oils, oil filters, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, propane cylinders, used needles (properly packaged), pesticides & herbicides, mercury thermometers & switches. HSW can be brought to the OVWRC year round during regular operating hours or check for Mobile HSW Events during the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Your Triple R Can and Green Cart are
registered to your property and must remain at that
address. Additional or replacement containers may be
purchased and are available at your Municipal Office.
You may also purchase Blue Boxes at these offices.

Recyclables in plastic bags other
than plastic bags of plastic bags or shredded paper
will not be collected. Items not collected in the program
will be left in your recycling container along with
a non-compliance sticker explaining the reason why the
material was not collected.
Ever wonder what to do with old clothing?
Consider donating usable clothing
to a charity. Usable clothing can also be placed in
a clear plastic bag and be put out for collection on
your paper collection days. Unusable clothing is regular
garbage.
