To Prevent Organics From Freezing

Composting is important, even in the winter but dealing with the material in your green cart can be tricky.

Try these tips to prevent your organic material from freezing to your green cart.

1. To prevent your organic material from freezing to the sides of your cart during the winter try lining your green cart with crumpled newspaper, cardboard or paper leaf & yard waste bags. 

2. Continue to layer paper between the material in your cart or wrap your food waste in paper before it goes in your cart.

3. Put liquids in a paper cup and freeze it in your freezer first so it will go into the cart frozen and not stick.
